Baked beef and cabbage pockets

Cabbage pockets cooked cabbage recipe mix flattened dough with cabbage recipe mix prepared beef and cabbage pockets

An easy recipe for beef and cabbage in a pocket. They're just like a hot pockets but with cabbage.

Recipe Ingredients:

Dough:

  • 1 cup warm water

  • 1 package dry yeast

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 4 through 5 cups of flour

Filling:

  • 1 and 1/2 pounds ground beef

  • 1/4 head of cabbage - chopped

  • Salt to taste

  • Pepper to taste

Directions:

  • Brown ground beef and drain off excess fat

  • Add cabbage, salt and pepper and mix it in so that it's even throughout

  • Stir in just a little water and let this cook on low heat until cabbage is tender

  • In the meantime make the dough...

  • Start by dissolving yeast in warm water

  • Add sugar, salt and oil

  • Add flour one cup at a time and mix well

  • Place dough on a slightly floured surface and knead until smooth and not sticky

  • Once you have the dough made let it rise for about 15 minutes

  • Pre-heat oven to 375F

  • Divide the dough into 12 to 14 equal sized balls

  • Take one ball of dough and roll it out really thin on a slightly floured surface

  • Put some of the beef and cabbage mix on half of the rolled dough

  • Fold it over and press the sides down

  • Once you have the sides folded down you want to cut 2 slices on the top

  • When all of your cabbage pockets are made grease a pan and put them all on it

  • Bake for 12 minutes

  • Remove from oven and serve

  • Yields 12 to 14 beef and cabbage pockets
