A delicious apple and caramel baked french toast recipe that yields six servings.

What you'll need to make this baked French toast...

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1 common size can of apple pie fruit filling (18 ounces or 540ml)

  • 7 large eggs slightly beaten - divided

  • 1/2 cup lightly packed brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup softened butter

  • 1/2 cup corn syrup

  • 2 Teaspoons maple extract (flavoring) - divided

  • 1 Tablespoon white granulated sugar

  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon

  • 2/3 cup of evaporated canned milk

  • 12 slices of white bread

Topping:

  • Sprinkle of cinnamon

  • Sprinkle of brown sugar

How the baked french toast is made...

Directions:

  • Pre-heat oven to 350F

  • In a 9 x 13 inch Baking pan place apple pie filling evenly over bottom

  • In a small bowl beat one egg slightly with fork

  • Stir in soft butter, brown sugar, maple extract(flavoring) and corn syrup

  • Stir until mixture is smooth and creamy

  • Pour over apple pie filling

  • Place 6 pieces of bread over top of apple caramel mixture

  • Now place another 6 slices of bread evenly over top of the fist layer - see image 2 section 2 above

  • In a mixing bowl add six eggs and beat slightly

  • Add evaporated milk, white sugar, 1 teaspoon Maple extract(flavoring) and 1 Teaspoon cinnamon

  • Mix thoroughly

  • Pour mixture evenly over bread

  • Press down on the bread to ensure all the bread gets completely soaked

  • Place in the oven on center rack and bake for approximately 1 hour

  • Remove and let cool for a few minutes

  • When ready to serve use a wide spatula and carefully flip over two stacked slices of bread (with apple caramel sauce) onto a serving plate - see 1st image above

  • Sprinkle each serving with cinnamon and brown sugar

  • Yields 6 servings
